  4. Pay Attention to Affected Areas: Spend extra time on areas affected by Lipedema, but avoid brushing too hard to prevent skin irritation. For me, my main areas of focus are the backs of my thighs and my upper arms. 
  5. Follow with Moisturising: After dry brushing and showering, apply a moisturiser to keep your skin hydrated and supple. This is especially important for women who wear compression garments for lipedema regularly.

My Experience with Dry Brushing for Lipedema

I’ve owned a body brush, like the one linked here, for around a year. Although I’ve dipped my toe in the body brushing pool, I’ve never really committed to it properly. 

Around a month ago, I decided to take it seriously. Every morning before getting dressed, I brush in upwards motions from my ankles to my upper thighs. I start softly in long, sweeping movements. As my skin has got used to the sensation over the past few weeks, I’ve started applying more pressure.

In all honesty, it’s hard to tell what the effect has been so far, my skin does seem a little smoother and tighter. But, only time will tell. I plan to continue for a few more weeks so I can monitor my symptoms and skin elasticity.

So, is Dry Brushing for Lipedema Worth it?

Dry brushing for Lipedema is a simple yet effective technique that can be easily incorporated into your daily self care routine. While it is not a cure for Lipedema, it can help alleviate symptoms and provide some much needed relief.
